Rhododendrons make up an incredibly diverse group of plants, originating from many parts of the Northern hemisphere with a large concentration in China and the Himalayas. These plants vary from tiny ground covering plants to species growing as understory plants in forests. Most flower in early spring, although some bear flowers for a brief period in autumn.
Rhododendron ‘Madame Masson’ is an old and reliable rhododendron bearing large, white flowers with yellow blotches, in May and June. For best results, grow ‘Madame Masson’ in dappled to partial shade in moist but well-drained, acidic soil. Plants need minimal pruning and can be propagated by layering. Rhododendron‘Madame Masson’ has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
